
The Sugar Land Garden Club presents two
annual scholarships to worthy students enrolled in the study of horticulture
at Texas accredited institutions. The students are selected
by the faculty at their academic establishments to receive these scholarships
based on their academic performance and leadership roles.
Scholarship Winners 2007
Heather Riley received an Associate Degree from Tyler Junior College in 2005, and is
currently a full-time student at Stephen F. Austin. Heather is
studying Horticulture with a special emphasis in Landscape Material and
Design. She
maintains a 3.59 GPA, and hopes to pursue a career in landscaping and nursery
management.
Donita
Bryan is completing her
master's degree at A&M University, and plans to continue her
advanced Horticulture studies there. In the fall of 2007 she will begin
pursuing a Ph.D. course of study. Donita spent
several years as a research and graduate teaching assistant at A&M.
She has contributed research articles to the SNA Research Conference, Arboriculture
and Urban Forestry Journal, and the American
Society for Horticultural Science.
