Our members participate in workshops where we get a chance to create craft items and enjoy each other's company in the process. All workshops are held at the Sugar Land Community Center Red Room, 226 Matlage Way, from 10 AM until 12 noon unless otherwise noted. Advanced sign up is required for all workshops. Workshop activities for the 2007-2008 year include: Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007 - "Card Making" workshop led by Sheryl Gee Wong and Terry Harris. Learn the basics of making cards, and then create cards with a floral theme. Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 - "Window Art with Wire and Beads" workshop led by Carol Freeman. Bend and twist wire into delicate swirls, add beads, and you will have a one-of-a-kind window (or garden) decoration. Tuesday, February 5th, 2008 - "Plant Markers" workshop led by Monica Durand. For something useful and fun, make several plant markers for those special plants in your garden. Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 - "30-Minute Jelly" workshop led by Laurie Jenkins, held in the Kitchen at the Sugar Land Community Center. For a special treat, turn fresh fruit into a delicious jelly in a very short time. Tuesday, April 1st, 2008 - "Paper-Making Made Simple" workshop led by Lee Steiner. Create beautiful, archival papers to use in memory books, cards, etc. by adding seeds, leaves, and other materials from your own garden to pure plant fibers.
